Students are part of an inquisitive and influential generation that longs for kindness, goodness, and love in the world. We love this generation! Our primary goal in Student Ministry is to make authentic disciples of Middle and High School students by bringing them to faith in Jesus Christ, teaching them to love God’s Word, and equipping them to be ministers and missionaries in the world they inhabit. Born-again students are the most powerful influencers of the church today and we long to see them equipped to both live and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Pennington and our deacons oversee Student ministry while we search for our next leader. We would love to hear from you and see your students involved in disciple-making at Smyrna First.

    EQUIP & TRAIN

    We want our students to stand for their faith, so we work to equip them with Bible knowledge and training so that they can confidently answer the questions of the culture. The goal is that every student would have the tools for ministry they need and that they be raised to maturity in Jesus.

    We equip in Study Groups at 9:30am every Sunday on the Student Hall, located on the second floor around the corner from Crossings Cafe.

    WORSHIP & APPLY

    Nothing is more important than glorifying God. We help our students taste and see that the Lord is good through worshipping together. Creating a longing for God and his Word in the heart of every student is of utmost importance to us. Students should be able to not only hear God’s Word but also apply it to their everyday lives. This happens best through a regular time of praising God together.

    Middle and High School students worship together on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm on the Student Hall.

    DISCIPLE & GROW

    Every student needs the regular intake of God’s Word. We want to help students learn to listen to God speak to them through the Bible. High School students follow a weekly Bible reading plan and we take time each week to talk about what God is teaching them during their personal time alone with him. Middle School students meet with God through a weekly devotion based on the Study Group curriculum.

    Discipleship happens every Sunday evening at 5:30pm. The evening typically starts with food, games, and fellowship, then students break up into small groups for discussion.

    CAMPS & CONFERENCES

    Our students attend an annual Summer Camp centered on the gospel and having outrageous fun.

    DNOW is a weekend of growth in collaboration with other Student Ministries during our spring semester.

    Retreats for boys and girls are scheduled to enrich our time together.

    MISSIONS & ACTIVITIES

    Every student is called to be a witness. We make opportunities for students to serve by taking their faith into the world. Our aim is to provide students with experience in engaging others with the gospel.

    We also love to have fun together and believe God made this world in part for our enjoyment. We regularly schedule events that help us make memories, have fun, and enjoy one another.
